2-OBJECTIVES OF THE MEETING

2.1 The Overall Objective of the Meeting is to discuss and agree on the practical modalities for the establishment of the African Continental Mechanism for Disaster Preparedness and Response and its action plan thereof.

2.2 Specific objectives

The specific objectives are to:

Deliberate on the scope and objectives as well as legal, structural and financial implication of the establishment of the Continental Civil Capacity of Disaster Preparedness and Response.
Develop action plan for the establishment of the mechanism
Discuss and adopt the survey tool for the assessment of capacities and capabilities of AU MS in Disaster Preparedness and Response at national level.

3- EXPECTED OUTCOMES OF THE MEETING

- Final Concept Note for the establishment of the mechanism adopted;
- Adoption of the survey tool of the assessment of capacities and capabilities of AU MS in Disaster Preparedness and Response;
- Action plan for the establishment of the mechanism;
- Final Report of the meeting with recommendations for consideration by 42thsession of AU Executive Council in February 2023.
